Sreelekshmi Namboothiri is a young and talented dancer based at Kerala, currently settled in New Delhi. She started her journey in Indian Classical dance at a very younger age. Her 12 years of indulgence in Indian Classical Dance has taught her that dance is not a communication of the feet but that of the heart.
Sreelekshmi Namboothiri was introduced to Indian Classical Dance by Smt. Sudha Peethambaran , Director of Sree Sankara school of Dance, Kalady in Kerala. She had her training in Kuchipudi under the guidance of Kuchipudi exponent Smt. Geetha Padmakumar. Her love and passion towards Mohiniyattam led her to Dr. Jayaprabha Menon, one of the topmost exponents in Mohiniyattam & Director of International Academy of Mohiniattom at New Delhi. Recently, Sreelekshmi did her Mohiniyattam arangettam (the debut performance) at New Delhi. (Click Here for details). She is also learning Kathakali under the mentorship of Kalashree Evoor Rajendran Pillai (Principal ,International Centre for Kathakali, New Delhi ).
Sreelekshmi has took part in the major choreographic works of Kalashree Dr. Jayaprabha Menon including ‘Shiva Geeta’ at Kalidas Samaroh and ‘Tatvam – A Celebration of Life’ for Nritya Sanrachna, a festival of choreographic works by Sangeet Natak Academy. She had opportunity to take part in many of the events of International Academy of Mohiniattam. She started participating in competitions at a very younger age and had won several prizes. Her dedication and commitment to this art form made her one among the promising dancers in Indian Classical Dance today.
